Cell Phone Family Plans: T-Mobile
Like I’ve written in an earlier post in regards to different wireless companies the offer cell phone family plans, there’s not much difference among them when it comes to what they have to offer you and your family.
T-Mobile is one of those that basically copy the rest of the pack. Actually they look like they follow AT&T more than any other wireless company out there. The offer many different plans as well as their Unlimited prepaid plans. They even offer where you can pay by the day and get unlimited calls between the hours of 7am-7pm.
They offer 5 different levels of their “Family Time” plans. The first one is called the Family Time Basic, which says it all. This plan has 700 whenever minutes with unlimited nights and weekends for two phones for $59.99. You can add up to three additional lines for this plan for $9.99 for each line.
The next level for their plans is the “Family TIme” plan. The plan comes with 1000 whenever minutes starting at $69.99 per month for two lines and again you can add up to three extra lines.
The “Family Time Plus” plan gives you 2000 whenever minutes for the price of $99.99 per month for the two lines.
“Family Time Ultra” plan steps up to give you 3000 whenever minutes along for the sticker price of $149.99 for two lines. All of these plans come with the nationwide T-mobile to T-mobile calling
Their last plan that they offer is the “Family Time Unlimited “plan. The plan’s name basically says it all. Everything that T-Mobile has to offer is given to you unlimited. What the plan also offers at no extra charge is what they call “MY Faves” minutes. With the other plans you can choose to have five of your most called numbers as your “Faves” (favorites) for a small additional fee, but with the unlimited plan, it’s included in the plan. Check out T-Mobile when shopping for the cheapest cell phone plans.

Verizon wireless is one of the leaders in the cell phone industry. They offer a lot of different plans to fit your needs. As for their cell phone family plans, they have three plans to choose from.
Their basic plan lets you choose from either a unlimited calling or a monthly allowance for you to make or receive calls in the U.S. the extras like text messages, pictures, videos and instant messages can be paid per use or get a monthly package at a reduced rate. The plan start at $69.99 for two line with 700 anytime minutes.
If you are getting these phones for your kids, well you might want to think about one of their select plans. This plan allows unlimited text, picture, video and instant messages, which is good because it seems that kids would rather text or instant message with each other than actually talk on the phone. Another feature that you have with this plan is that they can also have a three way call for those times that they do want to use it as a phone. Access to mobile web 2.0 is also included in this plan. The plans start at $99.00 for to lines with 700 minutes per month.
Their last plan that they offer is what they refer to as the premium plan. Which of course is the select plan with a few more features thrown in. With this plan you get unlimited text, picture, video, and instant messaging like with the other plan, but here are the “extra you get. Mobile e-mail, a feature that will help if you’re an entrepreneur on the go. The VZ Navigator which will help if you’re not go with getting yourself to the location you need to be. The other feature that is offered with this plan is the Vcast Vpak which is an upgraded mp3 player for those times that you don’t want to here anything but the soothing sounds of your music.

Sprint-Nextel is probably the most recognized wireless company out there in the market. They have been around the longest as well as offering the well known service of walkie-talkie type phone use, also known as “Talk-To-Talk” service. They also spend the most money out there advertising than anyone else in the industry. Every week they have sponsored the NASCAR Cup series for the last five years.
What do they have to offer for cell phone family plans? Quite a bit. They offer everything that the competition has to offer along with their push to talk service, but after that there really isn’t anything else.
What I would consider their basic family plan, they refer to it as the “Talk and Share” plan. The plan has 700 minutes for two phone for $69.99 per month. You can add up to three additional lines for $9.99 each. The good thing about the Sprint-Nextel service is that they consider week night to start at 7:00pm, unlike their competitors which start their week nights at 9:00pm
Other than their talk and share plan, they really don’t offer any family plans, but considering that they are well known, I didn’t want to leave them out of the mix of other wireless service providers. Sprint has been known for being used in the construction and transportation field more than being a family type of phone service. I know many people who use Sprint-Nextel as their personal wireless service, but for the price that they charge it really isn’t cost effective for a family of five to use.
They do offer a few plans that are great for business’ that need to have reliable wireless service, but like I said, not much for the family.
Their website is not the best of the group to navigate around, which makes it harder to find the best program that fits your life. I found myself bouncing back and forth to find the infomation that I wanted.
